im toying with the idea of replacing the curtains with roller blinds
in a snowgoose . should look tidier and should stop my shoulders opening them when walking past ,especially galley .
my question is can anyone reccomend a maker ,or give me any advise
they would obviously have to be made for a marine enviroment .
thanks Smile

thanks for the reply Steve. ill give them a try .like you said might get expensive ,i need 6 just for saloon windows .excluding hatches .while i got onto subject of hatches .my hatch acrylic has gone crazy paving .dont know correct tecnical term ,but you get the idea .is it a standard hatch size ,that i could order from supplier with all holes precut and predrilled for handles and retaining screws .Or am i being a optimist .it would be hard work duplicating all holes and taping threads into acrylic .it snaps for fun.thanks Smile

Hi Bernie

With regard to your hatch acrylics being crazed there is a company in UK called Eagle Boat Windows (www.eagleboatwindows.co.uk) that will replace your perspex which is a deal cheaper than buying new hatches. Lewmar tell me that replacement is the only option but I spoke to Eagle Boat Windows when I was at the Southampton Boat Show last year and they assured me they can replace the perspex to make the hatches good as new.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Steve

thanks for the reply steve ill be giving them a ring .do you know if snowgoose hatches are standard ,ie i tell eagle whats needed he puts them in post , i fit and seal ,or is it not that simple.
if anybody has been following original thread about blinds
ive come to conclusion its more trouble than its worth .ill just get more curtains made up
reasons are. nobody reccomends spring loaded blinds
told spring goes after a while
plus need to fasten fitting to window frame to take up slack and make tight to window . side windows have slight slope
blinds people didnt have any fittings
and with side cords on blinds it would take a lot longer to close 6 blinds
than pulling curtains together

Hi Bernie

The hatches on my boat are standard Lewmar so they are of a determined size.

I don't think that Eagle will send you the acrylic for the windows as the fitting of new inserts with the Sikaflex compound is a difficult job - best leave it to them.

Regards.

Steve
