An ex-Prout guy has advised me to rebed the windows with Arboseal 1081 black silicone sealant, using a suitable primer (Arboseal to advise which primer I guess) and abraiding the edges of the windows. Drill the bolt holes in the windows to 5.5mm, use 5.0mm bolts and put plenty on so the sealant squeezes up the bolt holes when it's tightened and tighten to a 'nip up' only until the sealant has 'set' as it were.

I'd say the finished thickness of the sealant should be a minimum of 5.0mm - use 5mm rubber rings on the bolts - or better still 6.0 to 8.0mm thick on the long windows. I am going for this when I can get down to the boat in some good weather - the way it is going I will still be saying that in a years time (surely we'll have some settled warm sunny weather sometime soon?) - hopefully soon before the sailing season starts.

One thing. Be carefull how the windows are cleaned up. Use soapy water. Using chemical cleaners and I guess that includes white spirit can be disaster for plastic windows - it cracks!

Would appreciate feedback on this.

Now all I have to do is find an Arboseal supplier in the South.........
